Ghanshyam Bishwakarma Crowned Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024

Kathmandu | Nineteen-year-old activist Ghanshyam Bishwakarma from Rukum has won the title of "Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2024," presented by Golchha Group and organized by Glocal Pvt. Ltd. Bishwakarma has been actively working for over eight years on various social issues, including child rights, mental health, climate justice, and the fight against child marriage. As the President of the National Teen Network Nepal, he has played a significant role in advocating for children's rights and addressing crucial social issues.

Glocal Teen Hero Nepal has been honoring the creativity, enthusiasm, and contributions of teenagers for the past decade. The platform aims to inspire teenagers to bring positive changes in both the global and local domains.

Ghanshyam Bishwakarma's work has made a significant impact not only in the field of child rights but also on climate justice and child marriage issues. He has been conducting educational workshops on child sexual abuse and climate justice, equipping young people with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate for their rights. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a crucial role in disseminating essential information to protect children and families.

This year's Glocal Teen Hero Nepal finalists included Ashish Panthi, Nishchal Bhattarai, Purnima Timilsina, Sajani Sharma, and Shrijaya Subedi. The finalists were selected based on their achievements, initiatives, contributions, and the impact of their work.

The award ceremony took place at The Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu, with the presence of distinguished personalities from various fields such as education, entrepreneurship, and diplomacy.

The panel of judges included Glocal Pvt. Ltd. Director Ashish Tiwari, Coca-Cola Nepal Country Director Chandrika Kalia, WWF Country Director Dr. Ghanshyam Gurung, UN Women Representative Patricia Fernandez Pacheco, Golchha Group Pvt. Ltd. Director Seema Golchha, and European Union Ambassador to Nepal Veronica Lorenzo.
